Nineteen: The Final Lesson for a Teenager

They say

She’s lost

They say

She’s young

They say

She’s all grown up.

She has dreams

They must not float away

The world is your oyster

Yours for the keeping.

The world is not yours

for the keeping.

It’s on loan until curfew.

They’re right

She is lost.

Lost between expectations and dreams.

Keep searching for the light.

Twenty looks brighter.
